1.noon意思：正午；中午
2.afternoon意思： 下午
二、用法不同
1.noon用法：是指正午十二點鐘,不指一段時間。noon前無冠詞。用in the noon表示“晌午”前後一段時間,為非正式用法。
例句：we were through with the work towards noon.
將近中午時我們把工作做完了。
2.afternoon用法：指正午以後至日落之前這段時間,譯為“下午”,複數形式afternoons指不斷重複的下午,起強調作用。書面語中可引申表示“後半期,後半”。
例句：she could knit up a baby's coatee in an afternoon.
她一個下午就能編結好一件嬰孩的緊身短上衣。
